The last game of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets regular season ended in a way that was both surprising in some ways and unsurprising in some ways, as they lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 69-43 today, putting up their worst offensive performance of the season. However, this is something that Yellow Jackets fans know all to well with the team.
Part of the problem has been the pace of play for the Yellow Jackets, as they lead the ACC in field goal attempts this season, but that does not mean the team is efficient, as they sit at 13th in field goal percentage.
The Yellow Jackets have been middle of the pack in the ACC in points per game this season, but the full story is that the Yellow Jackets have some of the worst shot selection that I have seen a team have.
The Yellow Jackets have now scored 65 or less points in 11 of their 31 games this season, with the 43 points against the Demon Deacons being their season low.
Some of these issues come from inconsistency in lineups due to injuries, but at some point there has to be a group that steps up and collectively puts together a great offensive game. Baye Ndongo, Naithan George, and Lance Terry have all had a good offensive performance here and there this season, but them and the team will have to do it consistently to take the team to the next level.
The team has had to rely on defense to win games, but that takes away the effort on the offensive end if they want to advance past the first round in the ACC Tournament next week.
