The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travelled to the University of California to take on the Golden Bears on Thursday, in a battle between two teams whose fates would be identical the Yellow Jackets would be one of the mid level seeds in the ACC tournament, and the Golden Bears would be right there with them, as they sat beside each other in the ACC standings. However, the Golden Bears would be too much for the Yellow Jackets as they won 79-65.
The Golden Bears offense came out on fire, scoring 23 points in the first quarter, while the Yellow Jackets offense went the final 3:31 of the quarter without making a single basket to give the Golden Bears a huge advantage early.
That momentum would somewhat be halted in the second quarter, as both teams would score 17 points, but the Golden Bears would take a 40-28 lead heading into halftime.
The second half seen the Yellow Jackets try to make a few comeback attempts, but the Golden Bears would be too much for the Yellow Jackets to complete a comeback.
Kara Dunn would lead the Yellow Jackets in scoring and rebounds in the contest, as she scored 18 points and was able to haul in six rebounds. Tonie Morgan would add 13 points for the Yellow Jackets, while Tianna Thompson would be the only other Yellow Jackets player to score in double figures with 11 points.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to take on the Stanford Cardinal for their season finale on Sunday.
