The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets came into their game against the Western Michigan Broncos 7-2, looking to improve to 8-2 and get a series opening win against the Broncos, and they did just that as they would pick up a 16-4 victory.
Yellow Jackets pitcher Tate McKee would get his third start of the season, and get another quality outing. McKee would go five full innings and striking out ten batters along the way, while allowing three runs. Pitchers Porter Buursema and Caden Caudette would come in for relief in the sixth inning, but both would quickly get pulled. Carson Ballard would finish the day on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, pitching the last three innings, only allowing one hit and zero runs. McKee moved to 2-0 this season with the win.
Leadoff hitter Kyle Lodise would put together a masterful performance for the Yellow Jackets, as he would go 2-4, who would be walked in his first plate appearance, hit his first home run of the season in the second inning, then hit a single in the bottom of the sixth inning that would bring home Caden Kerce, to bring in four total RBI for the Yellow Jackets in the game.
Outfielder Drew Burress would hit his fourth home run of the season in the win, hitting 2-5 on the day and two RBI from the home run in the second inning.
The Yellow Jackets and Broncos are set to face off in game two of the series tomorrow at 2pm Eastern time.
