Heading into the season, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets outfielder Drew Burress was listed among the best players in all of college baseball, and in what could be the biggest series of the entire season for the Yellow Jackets this past weekend, Burress put together one of his best series performances so far this season.
In game one of the series, Burress would let his presence be known, as he would be one of five Yellow Jackets to get at least two hits in the contest. Burress would record two singles in the game and make his way around the bases both times, finishing the game 2-5 with two runs.
Game two for Burress would be one where he would contribute here and there, going 2-3 in the game with a double, as he would play a part in the Yellow Jackets 18-2 run rule win over the Tigers.
In the final game of the series, Burress would do all that he could to try to ensure a victory in game three, as he would hit his ninth home run of the season, while also hitting his team-leading 16th double in the contest. Burress would finish 2-3, with a double and a two-run home run in the game.
In total, Burress would go 6-11 in the series, and a performance that was much needed for the sophomore as he looks to try and climb up draft boards for the 2026 MLB Draft, as he will certainly be one of the most highly sought after players in his draft class.
