The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will host the UMBC Retrievers tonight at 7:30 Eastern time, trying to end a three game losing skid.
The three game losing skid has derailed the team’s season, as the Yellow Jackets are now in the pursuit of getting back to .500. Losses to the now-unranked North Carolina Tar Heels and Northwestern Wildcats in the team's last two outings were detrimental to the team, as they lost both their first conference game of the season and their last shot at claiming a good non-conference win. Now, the Yellow Jackets have a much tougher road to reaching the NCAA Men’s basketball Tournament.
The game against the Retrievers will be one that is much-need med for the team, as theYellow Jackets are just looking at some sort of momentum going forward into their conference schedule. The Yellow Jackets have only one nonconference game left this season, as they will host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs next week. Before they look at that game though, the Yellow Jackets will host the No.5 ranked Duke Blue Devils on Sunday at noon Eastern time.
The player to watch for the Yellow Jackets in the game today will be senior guard Javian McCollum, who will be making his second appearance since coming back from a concussion suffered against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Nov. 23. McCollum wasn’t able to find the groove of things against the Wildcats on Sunday, as he finished the game with just three points after putting up double digit point totals in each of the teams’ first four games.
