In what has already been a bust offseason for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball team, seeing two of their top three contributors heading into the offseason, in guard Naithan George and forward Duncan Powell leave, the Yellow Jackets are now in a spot where they must face the reality of next season: it is going to be nerve-wracking for the team.
The Yellow Jackets will be tasked with a huge task this offseason, and that will be finding the replacement for George, which will be no east feat. George led the ACC in assists per game last season.
So who do they have on the roster at guard now? Barring the decision on if Kowacie Reeves Jr will be granted another year of eligibility, my best guess for someone still on the team that could take over the role is Jaeden Mustaf, who will be one of two listed guards on the team if Reeves Jr is denied his injury waiver.
While Mustaf is not the obvious answer for the team to fill the spot, he has at least been serviceable in the games that he did play last season, as he averaged eight points and three rebounds per game last season as a freshman.
It would never be a favorable thing for a coach to replace a player with George's veteran leadership with someone that would be going into his second collegiate season, but it may happen, or Stoudamire could very well look at veteran guards that will be in the transfer portal in the offseason.
