With the amount of returning production that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense will have this season, one thing that remained a question on the depth chart for the team has been exactly what the Yellow Jackets will do at the wide receiver position this season, and the spring game will be the first time that fans will be able to see what the position group will be like.

Perhaps the biggest competition will be between incoming transfer Eric Rivers and one of the yellow Jackets biggest contributors from last season, Malik Rutherford. Rutherford had 702 receiving yards last season with the team to go along with three touchdowns. Rivers was eleventh in the entire nation last season in receiving yards with 1,172, and perhaps even more impressive was his touchdown total, where he ranked fifth in the country with 12 last season.

But the depth of the position is something that should also be looked at, as players such as Debron Gatling and Dean Patterson. Gatling was a three star recruit when he committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks, but transferred to the Yellow Jackets this offseason after not seeing playing time last season. Patterson was a teammate of Rivers at Florida International, where he caught 50 passes for 682 yards and seven touchdowns.

The four receivers will for sure carry the load for the team at the receiver position this season and seeing how all of them do in the spring game will be critical of how fans like myself will view the position moving forward.
