Earlier this week, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets guard Naithan George announced that he would be officially entering the transfer portal, meaning that one of the two most reliable players for the Yellow Jackets last season would be leaving the program. However, the other player that makes up that duo, Baye Ndongo, could wield a lot of power around the program heading into next season.

Ndongo was one of two players to play in every game for the Yellow Jackets last season, as him and George were a model of consistency, but with Ndongo being the only one that remains, Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire could ask for more from Ndongo that he did last season.

However, Ndongo could completely surprise everyone and choose to enter the transfer portal with George, leaving the Yellow Jackets without four of their top five scorers from last season, heading into next season.

Ndongo put up nearly a double double average last season, scoring 13.4 points per game and grabbing 8.9 rebounds per game.

Retaining Ndongo should now be the top priority of the offseason, as losing that much production in one year could be detrimental to the program and quite possibly even Stoudamire's job. Incoming freshman Mouhamed Sylla is without a doubt a wonderful gab and will be a great big man for the program later, but the veteran presence of having Ndongo on the floor will be something that will be pivotal next season, and it should be the biggest focus of the offseason for the Yellow Jackets.
