Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., will take the sidelines next season on a new team, and with all the speculation on if Singleton Jr would return to the team like he did last season, Singleton Jr announced yesterday that he will be taking his talents to Auburn, Alabama to play for the Auburn Tigers next season.
The past two seasons for the Yellow Jackets, Singleton Jr has been the primary target for quarterback Haynes King, with a combined 104 catches for 1,478 yards. Singleton Jr was named to the 2023 All-American Freshman team after finishing with 48 catches for 714 yards and six touchdowns, including a touchdown in each of the Yellow Jackets five games last season.
Singleton Jr briefly entered the transfer portal last season, but decided to stay with the Yellow Jackets.
Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze will be getting an immediate difference maker in Singleton Jr, as the Tigers wide receiver room will be missing a veteran presence with their leading receiver from last season, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, graduating. With two years experience, Singleton Jr could be that presence for the Tigers.
As for the Yellow Jackets, the departure of Singleton Jr means that the wide receiver room is wide open for next season for someone to take charge, whether that be returning receiver Malik Rutherford, who pulled his name from the transfer portal after going in, or one of the incoming transfer receivers, such as Eric Rivers, Debron Gatling, or Dean Patterson.
Singleton Jr will have two years of eligibility left for the Tigers
