Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr has decided to enter the transfer portal, in a move that has shocked the fan base.
Singleton Jr seemed to be a safe bet to return to the Yellow Jackets next season, but in this world of the ever-changing college football landscape, even the safest bets are off the table.
Singleton Jr was a three-star recruit from Douglasville, GA as part of the 2023 recruiting class, the first class under current head coach Brent Key. The Yellow Jackets were looking for a playmaker at the wide receiver position entering last season, and Key liked what he seen out of Singleton Jr during spring practice, so he looked to him to fill that role for the team last season.
The soon-to-be junior had a phenomenal season in 2023 as a freshman, hauling in 48 catches for 714 yards and six touchdowns. This season, Singleton Jr kept up with that production and then some, upping his catches to 56 while garnering 754 yards, while his touchdowns slipped to just three.
The move has Georgia Tech fans wondering why he would enter the transfer portal, as his production seemed to improve in his sophomore season.
There are plenty of teams looking for a playmaker on the perimeter for their offense that will be digging into the transfer portal, and Singleton Jr could provide that spark for whatever team decides to look his direction.
