There are a lot of things that go into play in finding a successful baseball program, and even more work goes into building one, but if you ask me, there is definitely something brewing in Atlanta when you take a look around the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball program.
It starts with the players that are huge contributors for the team, and perhaps no other team in the country is getting the production from young talent than the Yellow Jackets.
They have perhaps one of the best young duos in the country in Drew Burress, a sophomore who could make the argument for being the best player in the entire country, and Alex Hernandez, a freshman who has played in the outfield, second base, and even pitched in a few games for the Yellow Jackets this season.
Adding to the young talent is Caleb Daniel, a freshman who can hit doubles like they are nothing, sophomore Kent Schmidt who leads the team in batting average at .415 this season, and sophomore Vahn Lackey, who is tied for third on the team in hits this season.
Add in the veteran presence of junior Kyle Lodise, and the lineup is not only one of the best in baseball, but it is also one of the youngest.
The pitching rotation has seen upper classmen mostly, but the Yellow Jackets could have a young ace in sophomore Tate McKee, who is second on the team in ERA this season at 3.31, and is sitting at 4-0 this season.
