After the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets moved their record to 20-4 with a sweep over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last weekend, I was wondering when the team was going to start to garner national attention for their impressive start. It seems as though that series against the Fighting Irish was the last bit that the team needed to prove, as they came in ranked at No. 25 in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 poll.

The Yellow Jackets have built up quite the resume this season, as they are currently 7-2 in conference games within the ACC and the 20-4 mark includes not losing a series yet this season. The 20-4 mark is the best start to a season sine 201, when the team started 21-4.

The success of the season is in large part by two areas: the batting lineup getting extra base hits, which they are currently leading the NCAA in doubles, and a bullpen that has shown to be among the best in the nation. Drew Burress, Kyle Lodise, Alex Hernandez, and Vahn Lackey have all carried a lot of the weight within the lineup, as every player in the group has started off the season in a fantastic way.

On the other side of things, Mason Patel has been a pleasant surprise to Yellow Jackets fans, as he has submitted himself as one of the best relievers in the country, only allowing one run in his eight appearances this season.

Time will tell if the Yellow Jackets will be able to keep up the pace that they are currently at.
