The season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is officially over, as they have lost in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament to the Richmond Spiders by a score of 74-48.
The Yellow Jackets struggled early in the contest to even get a basket to fall, as they would start the game 2-12 from the field. The Spiders, on the other hand, took a while to get going, but once they did, they couldn't miss. At one point, the Spiders would lead by 20 points in the first half, but by the end of the half, the Yellow Jackets would bring that lead down to as little as ten points.
The Spiders would head into halftime up 35-23.
The second half seen the Spiders start hot yet again, as they would start the second half on a 14-7 run to start to take a 49-30 lead. The two teams would trade blows for the rest of the third quarter, as the Spiders would head into the fourth quarter with a 53-34 lead.
Both teams would trade shots in the fourth quarter, as the Spiders were dragging out possessions to limit a comeback attempt by the Yellow Jackets, ultimately resulting in the 74-49 loss.
Tonie Morgan would lead all Yellow Jackets in scoring with ten points, the only Yellow Jackets player that would finish with at least ten points. Dani Carnegie and Ines Noguero would each finish with seven points, while Kara Dunn and Kayla Blackshear would each score six points.
