It is now win or go home for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team, as they will take on the Richmond Spiders tonight in what should be a classic 8 vs 9 seed game in the Women's NCAA Tournament.
The Yellow Jackets head into the game losers of four of their last five, but performances by junior guard Tonie Morgan and junior Kara Dunn should leave Yellow Jackets fans optimistic that they can rise to the occasion and advance to the second round of the tournament.
The biggest question for the Yellow Jackets will be how freshman guard Dani Carnegie will play, as she has been in a slump for the large majority of the second half of the season. She did play a pivotal role in both games in the ACC Tournament, putting up 15 points and nine rebounds in the Yellow Jackets 72-57 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies and 12 points and five rebounds in a near upset of the ACC top-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack.
It will be a battle of strengths for both teams, as the Spiders finished second in the Atlantic-10 Conference in three-point percentage, while the Yellow Jackets are second in the ACC in three-point percentage allowed per game. So whoever is able to come up big for their team in those areas will be the one that flourishes tonight.
The game is set it tip off at 7:30pm Eastern time, as both teams will look to extend their season at least for two days.
