Georgia Tech women's basketball should be optimistic about future

Even though the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team had their season end on Friday night, the team has a lot to look up to heading into next season, and they should not hang their head so low.

First, we must remember that this was still a team that had the capability to be great, as they started 15-0, but it is the returning production that has me the most excited for the team moving forward. For starters, the Yellow Jackets are returning four of their top six scoring options from this past season, as freshmen Dani Carnegie and Chazadi Wright return, as well as Kara Dunn and Tonie Morgan. The two losses for the team come from seniors Kayla Blackshear and Zoesha Smith.

The returning guards for the team should get fans excited, as they are well deep in the area as well as returning the production of Morgan, Wright, and Carnegie next season.

I think Carnegie could make a big step forward next season, as I think she got too hot too fast in her freshman season, resulting in her being put in a position that I do not think she was quite ready for just yet, but after an offseason of knowing that it is, she will be great for her sophomore season.

The only real question mark on the team is who will replace Smith and Blackshear as an interior presence, as they were first and third in rebounds per game for the Yellow Jackets last season.

I would still think that this is at-worst the fifth best starting lineup in the ACC next season.
