The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hosted the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a matchup of two teams that are on opposite ends of the ACC standings, with the Demon Deacons looking for just their second ACC win of the season, with their 69-59 win over the Boston College Eagles being the lone win in the conference this season. The Yellow Jackets would make the most of the game, ending the Demon Deacons hopes with a 73-62 victory.
The Yellow Jackets offense would get the scoring started early, as the team would outscore the Demon Deacons 24-13 in the first quarter. The Demon Deacons would try to fight back in the second quarter, at one point cutting the Yellow Jacket lead to nine points. However, the Yellow Jackets would take a 37-28 lead into halftime.
The third quarter would see the Demon Deacons attempt a comeback, as they would slowly chip away at the Yellow Jackets lead to come within two points at the end of the third quarter. The Demon Deacons would outscore the Yellow Jackets 20-13, cutting the Yellow Jackets lead to 50-48 to start the fourth quarter.
The Demon Deacons would even lead the game early in the fourth quarter at 54-53, but the Yellow Jackets offense would prove to be too much, as they would go on a 19-9 run to end the game and walk away with a 73-62 for the Yellow Jackets.
Kara Dunn would lead the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 22 points, while freshman guard Dani Carnegie would somewhat end her scoring slump, as she scored 14 points. Kayla Blackshear would put up 11 points and lead the team in rebounds in the contest with eight. Junior guard Tonie Morgan would also score 14 points and lead the team in assists with six.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Thursday as they host No.10 NC State at 7pm Eastern time.
