For the third time in his college career, defensive end/edge rusher Romello Height will enter the transfer portal after playing just one season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The former four-star recruit from Dublin, Georgia started his college career with the Auburn Tigers in the 2020 recruiting class before entering the transfer portal and committing to the USC Trojans before the 2022 season. Height played two seasons with the Trojans before entering the transfer portal again, coming back home to play for the Yellow Jackets.
Height played in all 12 games this season for the Yellow Jackets, becoming one of the best additions that the team added in last year’s transfer portal class along with interior defensive lineman Jordan van den Berg, and guard Keylan Rutledge, with Rutledge and van den Berg both receiving All-ACC honors this season.
In his lone season on The Flats, Height totaled 34 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and and interception. Perhaps his biggest performance of the season came in the Yellow Jackets 21-6 loss to Virginia Tech on Oct. 26, when he put enough pressure on quarterback Karen Drones to collect 1.5 sacks. Height had a season-high five total tackles in the Yellow Jackets 31-19 loss on Sept. 21 against the Louisville Cardinals.
Height is the latest Yellow Jacket to join the transfer portal, joining a slew of other now former Yellow Jackets, including quarterback Zach Pyron and highly touted wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.
