With the season over for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, it is easy to look at what's next, but that does not mean that we shouldn't celebrate what the team has accomplished this season. Here are the top five moments of the season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets so far this season.
5. Lance Terry scores 32 point on Senior Night
In what we thought could be his last game at McCamish Pavilion, senior guard Lance Terry left it all out on the court, as he would score a career-high 32 points in the Yellow Jackets 89-74 win over the Miami Hurricanes. It was a riveting moment for the team and Terry, as the culmination of his two years with the Yellow Jackets.
4. Georgia Tech gets big win in second round of the ACC Tournament
With their backs against the wall and the team needing a win to secure a postseason spot in a tournament, the Yellow Jackets would avenge and earlier loss to the Virginia Cavaliers earlier this season, as they would defeat the Cavaliers 66-60. The Yellow Jackets would probably not get an invitation to the NIT Tournament without a win here.
3. Buzzer beater for Baye Ndongo
With the Yellow Jackets needing wins late in the season to secure a postseason spot, a game against the California Golden Bears held a lot of weight, and it could not have ended better than when Baye Ndongo was able to get a ti-in basket as time expired to secure the Yellow Jackets 90-88 overtime win.
2. Yellow Jackets get ranked win over Louisville
Perhaps the time that the Yellow Jackets needed players to step up the most was the team's matchup against the then-No.21 ranked Louisville Cardinals, as they were looking for a win against a ranked opponent to cement themselves as a perennial contender in the ACC late in the season. The result was a 77-70 win over the Cardinals, and the team's only ranked win of the season.
1. Georgia Tech takes Clemson to three overtimes in 89-86 win
Without a doubt, the best moment of the season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is when they were able to knock off a streaky Clemson team, but how they did it was something magical. The Yellow Jackets down by six with just over two minutes remaining, but they fought back and Duncan Powell made a layup at the buzzer to send the game into it's first overtime. Both teams would only score six points a piece in the first overtime, then a dunk by Ibrahim Souare with 15 seconds left would send it to a third overtime. After a pair of free throws by Ndongo put the Yellow Jackets up 89-86, the Tigers had one final three point attempt at the buzzer, but it would bounce off the rim securing the Yellow Jackets win.
